vMX VFP stuck in Loading initrd...ok

Post by jotasan32 » Fri Sep 27, 2019 1:16 pm

Hello,
I'm having a problem with booting the vMX-FPC. It gets stuck in:
Loading vmlinuz... ok
Loading initrd...ok

Not showing more messages. Initially, I though it would be just the console not showing up, but I waited many hours and it doesn't talk at all with the vmx-VCP.
ping 128.0.0.16 routing-instance __juniper_private1__
[times out]

show chassis fpc
[all empty]

I am running 2.0.3-53 under vmware workstation 15
*2.0.3-53 is the eve-ng version I used. I tried the 2.0.3-95 but instances don't start at all.

I gave the VFP lots of resources (12 cpu ; 8192G Ram ; 12 Ethernets) but same result.
It happens in vmx versions 16.1 17.1 and 18.1 and I followed strictly the instructions in the eve-ng site how-to.

Also worth to comment that IOL and vQFX 17.1 works without issues

So that's where I am, stuck at the moment. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Juniper's VM require decent and fast CPU... Adding so much cpu to FPC will not change a lot.... Using template should fit the requirements...
