Juniper vSRX cloud0 interface not working

Have a working vSRX in an eSXI eve-ng installation. I am trying to get access to my outside management network from the vSRX. I configured cloud0 network and configured the interface on the vSRX that is connected to it to an unused IP on my management network. Interface comes online, but no traffic passes. The vSwitch is in promiscuous mode. vSRX interfaces are in the same trust zone which permits all traffic. BTW, when I do this exact scenario with a Cisco vIOS router it works fine. I also tried to use the NAT network, but same result. Has anyone run into this situation?
