NX-OSv9k cannot be loaded in eve-ng

Before posting something, READ the changelog, WATCH the videos, howto and provide following:
Your install is: Bare metal, ESXi, what CPU model, RAM, HD, what EVE version you have, output of the uname -a and any other info that might help us faster.

NX9K works gret if you have sufficient CPU and RAM.
Min requirements for single NX9K is x2CPU and 8G RAM.

Laptop version i7 can run one NX9K only..because of only 4 treads on CPU is available.

This is on a server though. EVE-NG is running on top of ESXi, with 24Gig of memory for the EVE-NG VM.

I have tried multiple combinations of memory for the NX-OSv9K node, including everything from 2 CPU's and 8Gig of memory to 4 CPU's and 16G of memory. It still stalls with the following: (endless loop):

I have also tried on a different ESXi host, but with the same result. Running the newest version of EVE-NG (updated with APT).

Re: NX-OSv9k cannot be loaded in eve-ng

Post by Jay-T » Sun Jun 11, 2017 9:18 am

Hi fellows. Have the same issue with N9K. I'm also able to launch nxosv9k 7.0.3.I6.1 in ESXi. Worked around with option efi.serialconsole.enabled = "TRUE" in .vmx file of VM to see normal boot process and noticed that after "Number of devices detected by BIOS is 1" it is trying to boot image. I suppose that in EVE it stucks in "loader >" and cannot to boot image properly.
This is ESXI VM loading log:

Seems many guys have same problem, but no solution yet. I just keeping the two nx9k running after first success boot. If I reboot the n9k again, it still keep endless loop.

But did you set boot nexus from its NXOS after first time boot success?

Yes, I put the command below on the start up config of N9K, and then reboot. It still keep loop after loading the image...

Re: NX-OSv9k cannot be loaded in eve-ng

if you have only:
EVE-NG in ESXi ver 6.5 (2 vcpu and 64G RAM)

then Nexus will not work on such config.
Need more vCPU for VM to give.

This looping happens if your CPU simply has no power to boot NXOS...
Thats it

I assigned 8 vcpu (4*2) and 64G RAM to EVE-NG. Not enough?
