AMD Threardripper - EVE-NG VM - working - vSRXv3

Post by janostasik » Wed Apr 01, 2020 9:10 am

Hello,
i know its not officially supported but I have a working EVE-ng VM on VMware ESXi, 6.7.0, 15160138 with CPU AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1920X 12-Core Processor. So far I've tested Cisco vIOSl2 and vIOSl3 images, couple of VMs like windows, kali etc...all works like a charm. Also, I am very happy that I was able to run Juniper vSRXv3 image version 18.4R1-S3.1 with some custom settings during adding the node...from my previous experience with vSRX on bare or other VMs, this vSRXv3 boots faster than older vSRX running junos 15 or 19...to make it working you have to modify node template and each time you power off and than power on change QEMU custom options....deleto all settings and use only -smp2

...also I am not able to run at this point vsrxng-19.1R1.6 nor vsrxng-15.1X49-D170.4 but keep going....

Thanks for you report...

using smp 2 seems not the right option as we provide the number of cpu in the UI....

-smp 2 is only option which works....if i keep default custom options no chance to boot the device. If i delete whole Qemu custom options and keep -smp 2 it works like a charm...could be AMD related?
