MPLS/L3VPN

Post by nick.williams5 » Fri Feb 22, 2019 2:31 am

A basic MPLS L3VPN setup that I have been using for testing out various aspects of the technology. I am using the same "physical" topology as the INE ATC RSv5 because I like to be able to switch my configs using a "config replace".
I don't have a "lab scenario" for you or anything, but my basic config text file can be used to create a completely working MPLS L3VPN, or just IP all of the devices.
L3VPN-Lab-INE-Topo.JPG

Here are the topologies (this lab you will need to use the 20-Router topology - just boot R1 - R15):
INE-CCIE-RSv5-ATC-Topologies.zip
Image Versions:
CSRv: csr1000v-universalk9.16.6.1
IOSv: vios-adventerprisek9-m.SPA.156-2.T
IOL: L3-ADVENTERPRISE9-15.5.2T

Here is the basic config information:
L3VPN-Start.zip
The configs are set up using G1.x as the primary interface, but you can easily do a find/replace to allow for IOSv (G0/1) or IOL (E0/1)

For anyone that is curious, the INE topologies are built for a configuration set that I made that allows you to switch between all of the INE ATC workbook configs quickly/easily. The page includes a link to all of the configs for INE workbook.

Nick ,

Really nice ! I have a octa core double with 128mb ram and somehow when I load up all the iosv together it shuts down my entire ESXi...

I couldn’t even troubleshoot or see the logs. I’ll engage UD later to see if we can get the error message.

The topology its very well done, UD made another one couple months ago and it was working flawlessly as well.

Congrats both and great work

I would say this lab will work using IOL images which are 10 times lighter than vIOS..
Example: i86bi_LinuxL3-AdvEnterpriseK9-M2_157_3_May_2018.bin

This is exactly the version that I have - and I had issues with it enough times that I switched to using CSR-1000v (which is quite "heavy"). I suppose I should try another IOL image. Does anyone have any recommendations for an image that is stable/suitable for CCIE RS practice? For now the CSR-1000v is OK but my desktop can't run 20 of them. Google cloud works like a charm, but costs me $1/hr to run 20 CSR1000v + 4 IOSv L2 devices.

With CSR-1000v I can run this on my desktop computer w/ i7-7700k/64GB RAM without trouble.

Last best are:
i86bi_LinuxL2-AdvEnterpriseK9-M_152_May_2018.bin
i86bi_LinuxL3-AdvEnterpriseK9-M2_157_3_May_2018.bin

Hi:

One question, how can I make the "physical" connection of the different sub-interfaces on this lab?

E0/1 (IOL router) can be connected only one to a different node. I´m sure I´m missing something. I´ve searched but no see how to deploy this configuration.

Thanks for the help

Well I suppose is done with switches deployed but doesn´t appear on the topology image. By the way I´m talking about the MPLS lab.

Regards
Borja
