IOL Kernel Panic

Post by jpchar » Wed Jun 07, 2017 9:05 pm

Hi,

I am trying to run IOL images in a lab along with vIOS images.

I can run multiple IOL Images on their own or with vPCs. As soon as I try to run with any other type of image (vIOS, win PC etc), the EVE VM gets a kernel panic and then I have to reboot:
Capture.PNG
EVE-NG Version: 2.0.3-60

IOL file list:
root@eve-ng:/opt/unetlab/addons/iol/bin# ls -l
total 287104
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 61723544 Jul 17 2013 i86bi_linux_l2-ipbasek9-ms.may8-2013-team_track.bin
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 159211372 Jun 7 21:31 i86bi-linux-l3-adventerprisek9-15.4.2T.bin
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 990 Jun 7 17:49 iou_keygen.py
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 37 Jun 7 17:56 iourc
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 73017484 Jun 7 21:28 L2-ADVENTERPRISE-M-15.1-20140814.bin
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Jun 7 21:52 NETMAP
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 16384 Jun 7 22:00 nvram_00001

ran /opt/unetlab/wrappers/unl_wrapper -a fixpermissions

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Pierre

I've tried VMware workstation - even worse in terms of stability (causing blue screens).

The issue is why IOL instances cause a kernel panic when run alongside Qemu instances.

Curious....

Did you try a memtest ?

Your computer seems to be the culprit.

I moved the whole Eve VM on to a spare ESXi host that I have - seems to be ok on there, so like you say it must be either something with Hyper-V or the laptop :( .

It's a shame as I was trying to save electricity :)

Thanks for the advice.

I'm having the same issue on two separate Hyper-V devices (client and server), so it seems this is Hyper-V related. Quite a shame as I would then have to switch between hypervisors oin my client device.

There is no solution for this problem? Got the same here.. using hyper v as well.

Didnt want to change my hypervisor.
