BFD Supported Configs?

Post by davparker » Mon Mar 16, 2026 6:47 pm

I am trying to simulate a BGP config with BFD enabled. I've tried using vios and csr1000v nodes. Cmds take but show bfd .... output is non-existent. I'm guessing bfd is not supported.
Thanks,
David

Hi, thanks. Yeah, I can do the config on csr devices but I cannot verify bfd is in operation with the show commands. The configs are accepted. It appears that I'm using a csr from the CML reference platform. Wonder if that might be a problem?

Hi, the command list depends on an image. You might want to check cisco feature navigator.

Yeah, must not be supported in CML csr1000v image. Even did a debug bfd packets after enabling and nada.
I may try an 8k

In EVE-NG, BFD isn’t always supported depending on the image you’re using. With Cisco CSR1000v (especially CML versions), BFD commands may be accepted but won’t actually function, so no output or debug appears.

So the issue isn’t your config—it’s likely the image lacking full BFD support. You’ll need a different image (e.g., a higher-end Cisco image that supports BFD) to test it properly.
