EVE root access

EVE Experts.

I am looking for some guidance about recovering a login credential for the root access. I have the EVE community edition up and running but can't login to the CLI for updating.

Excuse me but we do not support hack of root passwords.
This means you simply forgot it or trying get in EVE which is not yours.
Check Ubuntu site how to recover root
