### USE CASE ###
- I am intending to install VMWare Workstation on Windows 10/11 to use EVE-NG
- I am intending to buy the following MiniPC to use for EVE-NG: https://store.minisforum.com/products/e ... 4394643701
- Essentially, it has a AMD Ryzen™ 9 5900HX, 8 Cores/16 Threads Processor
### QUESTIONS ###
1. Does EVE-NG support this processor by AMD without any issues?
2. I have only ever used Intel CPUs before, will using VMWare Workstation work fine on this AMD CPU?
3. I intend to use EVE-NG for the following:
a) Windows VMs
b) Palo Alto, Checkpoint, ASA, ISE, Load Balancers, Fortinet
c) Cisco IOU (Layer 2 and Layer 3)
d) Cisco Nexus
e) Other Cisco/Juniper Images for Routing/Switching
Does anyone know if using this CPU will cause me any problems? Is an Intel CPU really the only safe option here?
How compatible is EVE-NG with newer AMD Processors?

Yes AMD is supported.
But foir your needs, list of nodes even this AMD will be weak...
CPU Cores. like you have 16 threads, this EVE will be able run very small labs with your mentioned nodes.
ISE, Palo, Checkpoint, Nexus are heavy stuff
The EVE Priorities are:
1. CPU, as more cores you have as better, CPU is heart of your EVE, best of you could have Server/PC with dual sockets for e5-2680v4 !!!, you would be a king then
2. Fast HDD like SSD or SHDD, sill drastically improve performance, boot time of nodes, install nodes and running. Response time.
3. AND only then is RAM, you can have 256Gb RAM, but if your CPU will not hold nodes in the lab, your huge RAM becomes useless.
(It is myth, like I have 128Gb RAM and I am king, where your CPU has only 4 cores, it is usless)

HX90 works well bare metal with the ISO image.

Re: How compatible is EVE-NG with newer AMD Processors?
Greetings!
What is better to choose:
- LGA 1700, 8Px 3 GHz, 16 Ex 2.2 GHz, L2 - 32 MB, L3 - 36 MB, 2 x GDDR4, DDR5-5600 MHz, TDP 253 W
- A5, 16 x 4.5 GHz, L2 - 16 MB, L3 - 64 MB, 2 x DDR5-5200 MHz, AMD Radeon Graphics, TDP 170 W
?
1. Intel has 24 cores (8P+16E) and 32 threads.
2. AMD has 16 cores and 32 threads.
Which is more important: the number of physical cores or the number of threads?

Intel always wins
