Hi Uldis, 18 version will support AMD and Intel?
AMD is already supported. Read the Release Notes

i bought a Intel NUC10i7 with 64 GB of RAM and want to use it as bare metal.

The problem: Ubuntu 16 LTS do not find any NICs. I tried already to use another driver but have no luck.
Actually I have this same NUC. The kernel with a new e1000 driver that supports
it was backported to ubuntu 16 a while back (16.04.06 has it). So depending on
how much time the devs have (and how much they've devoted to porting to
18.04.x) they can either compile the new driver or use 18.04.x

In my case I imply solved it with a USB NIC and made a report in the help
board. There are a number of supported USB Gbps and 100 Mbps NICs.

I'm definitely going to try and compile a new e1000 driver for this kernel and
see if that works. However, it's something that I'd definitely not recommend
users do. Very easy to seriously break your install.

Best to wait for next update with new kernel and use a USB NIC for now. If you
follow the bare-metal instructions well your first detected NIC will always be

Hello everyone,

This is my first message in this forum, first of all I want to thank the EVE-NG team for such a wonderful tool, it is very helpful for network professionals, I really appreciate the contribution they have made with this software.

Regarding the topic that you comment here, I really hope that there will be an update to Ubuntu 18 in the "Community" version soon, I have had some problems running virtualized environments using nested virtualization in the following order:

I recently built a system with Ryzen 9 5950x + X570 Chipset, which is the limit I have for now (avoiding using Threadripper or EPYC due to cost issues), they really are excellent cost / benefit processors, I have not done many tests yet but of At the moment I cannot correctly execute the PA-VM image, although it manages to lift it by making some adjustments, the performance is very poor and it is not possible to work (even the system hangs), from the comments I see there is better support in the Ubuntu version 18 regarding support for nested virtualization.

For now, to solve the problem and take advantage of my hardware I have had to deploy the laboratory in "Baremetal", I have to say it works excellent and I have no problems with the PA-VM or others, however, the reality is that the hardware is very powerful enough to only dedicate it to doing this task, that is, it could also be used for other tasks making use of nested virtualization.

I don't know if there is any date to update to Ubuntu 18 in the "Community" version, but I hope it is soon and the support of nested virtualization for AMD processors is improved, since with my old i7 6700K + Z170 Chipset this was never a problem Unfortunately my laboratories are getting bigger and bigger and this hardware limits me a lot.

Excuse me, my English is not very good.

AMD and Ubuntu 18 makes no sense here.
Many guys running Pro on AMD and Ubuntu 18, Issues starts with AMD and Qemu version support.
It is AMD and Qemu case.
As I know Palo as well designed their VMs for Intel CPUs....
