New custom Ubuntu 18.04 host can't connect to network

Hi,
I have created a new custom Ubuntu 18.04 host on my EVE Community version and I was trying to connect to the web to install software required for my lab, so I connected it to a network Mahnagement(Cloud0) net, the same I used during the installation.
This time I noted that the first time I logged in the Ubuntu host after the installation, I was not getting an IP address. It's configured (like the EVE-NG server) to receive an IP address via dhcp. To rule out any problem with the physical server, I added a Cisco router in the topology and set it up to also get an IP address via dhcp from the same cloud. This time the router got an IP address immediately after the interface was turned on.
So there's nothing wrong with the physical server. Next I configured the Ubuntu host with a fixed scheme. I manually configured IP address, mask and gateway.
After applying changes, the interface status now was "connected", before, when using dhcp, it was "connecting" all the time. But in spite of that, I'm not able to ping anything, not even the gateway. But if I try to ping the same gateway from the eve-ng server, it works (they are connected to the same one).
To sum up, the Ubuntu Host's ethernet interface doesn't seem to be connecting to the physical one, but other elements in the same EV-NG topology can. Is there any way to verify that the ethernet port of the Custom Ubuntu host is in "bridge" mode with the physical ethernet port? Or, what else could I check?
Thank you.
