Get Stuck in Emergency mode

Hello Team,
I have successfully installed Eve-ng, works fine for a periof of time but then my ESXi 6.0 host reboot due to power outage. WHen I tried to launch EVE-NG VM, I got stuck in emergency mode. Here`s message I get on connsole of EVE-NG virtual machine:

Even when I hit Control-D to try to boot into default mode, it`s been unable to get into default mode. ANy thought how to fix and why it occurred?In previous unetlab, it did not happened even I power off virtual machine from ESXi management client.

This is normal behavior of Linux, looks like some partition corrupted.

fsck /dev/sda ( /dev/sda - is your drive letter to fix the issue).

To check what drive letter you can use - fdisk -l - list all the drives

I rrran the command you suggested but nowq I keep hitting enter to go through whole process. so supposed to add -yf argument? WHy it happened with this Eve-ng Ubuntu but never happened on unetlab even I did not shutdown it gracefully. It`s been already last about one hour , more that 65000 Inote went but don`t know when it`s finished. Is it possible somehow to protect it even if the system did not shutdown gracefully?

Once it`s done, the Eve-ng completely crashed and does not go even into Emergency mode. need to completely rebuild which is a bit of annoying for this simple reason. It`s weird even windows could be ungracefully shutdown many tims without getting into recovery mode. I already run into with this twise.

Dear Developer and Admin,
I have just rebuild EVE-NG, update and upgrade according to the HowTO video, launch it, ensure that it works, then I force it power off via ESXi 6.0 VSphere Client , then power on again and realized that it got stuck into emergency mode again. Why it`s happening? It does not happend with Unetlab when I power it off ungracefully via ESXi client. Repairing by means of fsck does not help, it even dont get to the emergency. It`s a very weird and annoying that it`c occuring due to such small reason. Anyone can advise on this how to sort it out?

I understand it but what if I have issue with common power outage problem which does not depend on me. Does it mean that in that case I have to rebuild all EVE-NG from sractch? It`s really weird because such problem did not encounter when I used unetlab based on Ubuntu as well. Even windows whch considering less stable than linux, could tolerate when you cold it down for many many times.

I had same issue like you, i run my EVE-NG under Esxi 6.0, due to some power issue my server was off..

by doing fsck i could able to recover my EVE-NG, If not working for you.

There is other expert level of Linux admin : ( use it at your own risk).

Note : since you using Live CD, you can try backup files before you doing any advanced steps.

1. use Live Linux CD
2. run Live CD to boot, instead of EVE-NG VM.
3. then do FSCK for the corrupted partions.

Note : These steps are for advanced user of Linux if you understand well.

I am not sure, is this BUG in new .60, after i have upgraded 3 days back from old to EVE-NG version: 2.0.3-60. My VM Also have same issue like yours.
My EVE was running more than 6Months never rebooted, But After i have upgraded EVE-NG version: 2.0.3-60, i found same problem like you. but i could able to recover back with the below screen shot, may be it will help you. i will keep monitor, if this occurs then sure, new upgrade may have some issues.( i can not confirm at this stage is this new EVE-NG version: 2.0.3-60 issue or something else).
