Lost configs in lab during export
Hi, new to EVE and so far it has been working great. The issue I am having now is that i built out a lab using cisco iol, ios (dynamips) and host vpcs nodes and i performed an "export all cfgs" which it seems all of them failed except the vpcs nodes. I performed an export of the lab under my login then logged in using the admin account and imported the lab. Now none of the nodes have configs and even though it appears i can set the "startup configuration" to exported it doesn't save the selection (probably because they failed to export in the first place) and there is no start up configuration.
is there a way to recover the config information or do I need to start over again? the topology is still there just no configuration on the nodes.
if i log back into eve using my login it is the same status, no configs.

Re: Lost configs in lab during export
vpcs node needs to save cfg and then export.
Simply give command "save" on vpcs.
and please watch this video:

Thank you for the response, I watched the video and the issue I am having is it appears the node configs (cisco iol/dynamips) did not export and now they are blank.
I didnt know if there was another location I amy be able to find the configs. i didn't wipe the the nodes.

Re: Lost configs in lab during export

SIR:
this process is so simple and easy, looks like you lost in 2 trees.
1. do the config on node and USE copy run startup
2. right click on node and say export cfg
3. after export is finished, you must be able to see your exported cfgs on right side bar startup-configs
4. side bar more options, set nodes boot from exported
5. done, after you will use wipe for node it will boot from exported cfg..

Re: Lost configs in lab during export
I think there's some confusion although i figured it out. Somehow the lab ID (76a8e6d1-650a-4cde-8c22-cb6054342112) changed in the lab config file and was pointing to a different directory. I cloned the lab then manually edited the config file with the correct ID string.
<lab name="SLMC_Palo" id="8909a1db-9c32-4e93-b1e7-71732ae2cc88"
<lab name="SLMC_Palo_BAK" id="76a8e6d1-650a-4cde-8c22-cb6054342112"
Now the cloned lab pens with all the node configs and I was able to save and export.

Re: Lost configs in lab during export
true, lab cloning does not clone tmp saved things. And assign brand new UIDD because of possible mess in EVE labs with sam UIDD.
That you have changed UIDD is not so good idea, because now you have 2 labs pointing to one tmp source.

Re: Lost configs in lab during export
Actually I dont have 2 pointing at the same source. Somehow my original lab "SLMC_Palo" got remapped to "8909a1db-9c32-4e93-b1e7-71732ae2cc88" so I cloned it to "SLMC_Palo_BAK" and modified the clone to point to the original configured/working source "76a8e6d1-650a-4cde-8c22-cb6054342112".
I don't know how it happened but now it's all better and working.
