Issue with eve-ng

Post by stevengroves » Fri May 03, 2024 11:39 pm

Hello,

I tried to get a lab of Cisco Cat8000v working on EVE. The EVE VM is on KVM, specifically on an UNRAID server.

EVE works fine (although its a Beta POS from 1995, IMO). I followed the 8000v install on the Eve website. When I put a few 8000v together and throw on some basic configs they get really wonky. For example, if I were to 'show run' in the 8000v it would take a long time to show the output. Another time I did a 'write mem' and the entire 8000v crashed. Additionally, the actual configs wont persist after I stop the node even though I extract the configs & set startup config in Eve prior to stopping the node. I am running crypto in the 8000v bc I'm labbing up some BASIC vpn stuff.

I tried doubling the Cat8000v CPUs to 4 and memory to 8GB. It does boot faster but the wonky stuff remains.

Does EVE just suck, is it the 8000v, or is it me?

Nested KVM VM is what?
EVE itself as KVM was notin recommended system requirements at all..
